materials:

  • 14/20 gold-filled14/20 gold-filled wire, clasps, etc. have a thick layer of 14 karat gold bonded to jeweler's brass. It is a much thicker layer than gold plated material.
  • berylGreen beryl is a pale green gemstone that is in the same family as emerald and aquamarine. The green beryl I've used in some of my pieces has been dyed to give it a deeper green color. Yellow beryl, also called heliodor, ranges from pale yellow to gold and is often heat treated.
  • citrineCitrine, like amythest, is a variety of quartz. It can be yellow, orangy, or reddish. Citrine is often heat treated to improve it's color.
  • cultured pearlPearls have been admired in jewelry for centuries. Most people are familiar with akoyas, which are cultured saltwater pearls, but there are many other types of cultured pearls, such as tahitian, south sea, and freshwater pearls. Cultured freshwater pearls are available in a lovely array of natural colors, pinks, mauves, oranges, etc., and are also available in many dazzling colors that are a result of dying. I primarily use cultured freshwater pearls, either natural color or dyed.
