pinks and black silk

The irregular shapes of these cultured freshwater keshi pearls give this necklace a primitive look. Pinkish and purplish spinel gemstones and vermeil cubes add flashes color and brightness.

materials:

  • 14/20 gold-filled14/20 gold-filled wire, clasps, etc. have a thick layer of 14 karat gold bonded to jeweler's brass. It is a much thicker layer than gold plated material.
  • vermeilVermeil is gold plated over sterling silver.
  • cultured pearlPearls have been admired in jewelry for centuries. Most people are familiar with akoyas, which are cultured saltwater pearls, but there are many other types of cultured pearls, such as tahitian, south sea, and freshwater pearls. Cultured freshwater pearls are available in a lovely array of natural colors, pinks, mauves, oranges, etc., and are also available in many dazzling colors that are a result of dying. I primarily use cultured freshwater pearls, either natural color or dyed.
  • spinelSpinel is a rare, beautiful gemstone that is available in colors similar to rubies and sapphires: blues, reds, violets, pinks, oranges, etc. Historically, many gemstones often called rubies were actually spinels (such as the Black Prince's Ruby in the crown jewels). Spinel is rarely treated.

    Notes: knotted on silk
