yellow and white chain necklace

This two-level chain combines Argentium sterling silver links with white cultured freshwater pearls and citrine faceted rondelles. The pendant has five briolettes: two white topaz, two citrine, and one lemon quartz. A trio of citrine faceted rondelles lines on a secondary chain closer to the throat. The clasp is sterling silver.

materials:

  • Argentium sterling silverArgentium sterling silver is a new sterling silver alloy that uses germanium instead of some of the copper in the alloy. The metal has a nice silver color and is much more tarnish resistant than regular sterling silver.
  • sterling silverSterling silver is a beautiful white metal, that is a mixture of pure silver and copper.
  • citrineCitrine, like amythest, is a variety of quartz. It can be yellow, orangy, or reddish. Citrine is often heat treated to improve it's color.
  • cultured pearlPearls have been admired in jewelry for centuries. Most people are familiar with akoyas, which are cultured saltwater pearls, but there are many other types of cultured pearls, such as tahitian, south sea, and freshwater pearls. Cultured freshwater pearls are available in a lovely array of natural colors, pinks, mauves, oranges, etc., and are also available in many dazzling colors that are a result of dying. I primarily use cultured freshwater pearls, either natural color or dyed.
  • quartz, lemon
  • topaz, colorlessMany people know of topaz as a blue gemstone. However, in nature, topaz is typically colorless. I like to use faceted, colorless topaz to add a bit of sparkle.
